District Children's Ministry

Tampa Miller, New Children's Ministry Coordinator

  
During her 35 years as a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Tampa Miller has always been a Sunday School  teacher for preschool or elementary age children.  She is currently the church school superintendent, VBS director, choir director, worship coordinator and is the teacher of their Women's Bible study class.  Tampa was the director of St. John’s First Step Daycare/Preschool from 1994-2007. 
 
As the new District Children's Ministry Coordinator, she is working in conjunction with our District Board of Laity in making plans to have all 52 churches on the district participate in a "Stop Hunger Now" packaging event in which children will participate (see below for more information about this event). Also, training events such as "Safe Sanctuaries" are being planed for church staff and volunteers who work with children. ---Local churches invited to define their needs for children's ministry, Sat. Feb. 25, 11 am at the District UMC Office:
Tampa Miller, District Children’s Ministry Coordinator has been working over-time to develop a children’s ministry that will be effective on the Shore. Last year the district sponsored a children’s Stop Hunger Now mission event (also in 2012) and a Safe Sanctuaries Training for workers of children, but she realizes there are needs in our churches that have not been met. She wants to hear from you! What would you like to see offered?
Tampa is scheduling a gathering on Saturday, February 25, 11 am at the District UMC Office in Parksley designed to discuss ideas and to make plans for future events and resources for our children. She’s inviting 1 or 2 representatives who work with children from each church .  (ex.
