Swain Memorial UMC (16094 Main Ridge Rd., Tangier Island)
During summer months: (May to mid October from Onancock): take the 10 a.m. tour boat (Capt. Eulice) for Tangier at Hopkins Store (wharf in Onancock). When you reach Tangier and step off the boat walk straight until you get to a paved road. Turn left and go approx. 150 yds. The church will be on your right.
During summer months: (from Crisfield) Take the same directions to Crisfield and you will see the Dockside Restaurant on your left --just prior to getting to the city dock. Behind that restaurant is the tour boat (Steven Thomas). This boat will leave at 12:30 p.m. It takes approx. 1.5 hours for the trip to Tangier.
During winter months:(mid Oct.-Apr. from Crisfield) : take Lankford Highway (Rt. 13) north until you cross the Maryland line. Continue north past Pocomoke City, Maryland. Turn west off Rt. 13 at the sign “To Crisfield” and travel approx. 6-8 mi. to the first stop sign; turn left and continue approx. 5-6 mi. to the next stop sign; turn right, immediately after you turn right there will be another stop sign entering Rt. 413; turn left and continue straight to the Crisfield City dock. You can catch the 12:15 p.m. Tangier “mail boat” (Courtney Thomas) which takes approx. 45 min. to the island. (Fee for mail boat is $20 round trip or $15 one way.)
